Erasmusu
Erasmusu grew from a student association in Murcia and a practical need: help international students find one another, useful local knowledge and, eventually, a place to live. Emilio helped turn that community into a company. Spotahome acquired it in 2018.
Investing & advising
After Erasmusu, the focus moved outward: backing nearby teams, mentoring founders and learning from other sectors. It was a chapter of helping other builders sharpen the things they were bringing into the world.
Magnific / Freepik
In late 2023, Emilio and Javi López launched Magnific, a new approach to AI-assisted image upscaling. Freepik acquired it in 2024; both founders stayed to keep building. In April 2026, Freepik took the Magnific name.
Current focus
The current problem is simple to state and hard to finish: reduce the distance between an idea and its expression.
Emilio continues that work with Magnific—the name now shared by the product and the company formerly known as Freepik—across image, video and other creative workflows.
